When the 1900's hit the pizza had found its way to America. This was due to the Italian immigrants that came to the country and decided to take up permanent residence in cities like New York and Chicago. People found that they could locate pizza in areas that had a high number of Italian residents in it. Over time small establishments took it upon themselves to add this fare to their menus so even more people came to enjoy it. American soldiers also helped increase the popularity of this food as they had often seen it while they were serving on the Italian fronts during the war.
Nowadays we see that this is one of the most popular foods in the nation. Those that enjoy it seem to forget about the true beginnings that this delicacy.
